INS Parundu welcomed more than 800 students and personnel from ten schools and colleges throughout the district as part of Navy Day Celebrations 2024, encouraging young people to consider careers in the armed forces.
Students in Class 8 and up were given an authentic taste of living at a Naval Air Station during the two-day event, which took place on November 21 and 22. The tour included interactive Dog Squad exercises as well as displays on safety gear, meteorology, medical services, firearms, and air traffic control. Students also engaged with Naval troops from a variety of professions and got a close-up look at aerial training sorties.
Students’ interest in a career in the Indian Navy was sparked by a lively Q&A session during which they were able to ask questions regarding the application process for entering the armed forces. The Commanding Officer of INS Parundu, Captain Arjun Menon, gave school representatives a Navy calendar and brochure as the ceremony came to an end.
Additionally, as souvenirs of their visit, students received navy-logo art stickers and booklets about career opportunities in the Navy. The goal of this outreach program was to educate the next generation about the Navy’s critical role in national security and to inspire them.
