As part of the events for Navy Day 2024, the Indian Navy’s “Sea Riders Odyssey 2024” bike rally is scheduled to start on December 4, 2024. This 13-day rally, which is being organised by the Headquarters, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area, in partnership with Royal Enfield, Orazo, and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., will travel over 2500 kilometres through several Tamil Nadu sites.
Puducherry, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Trichy, Karaikudi, Dhanuskodi, Rameswaram, Valliyoor, Madurai, Kodaikanal, the Sainik School at Amaravathipudur, Coimbatore, Wellington, Salem, and Vellore are among the cities that will be covered by the rally.
On December 16, 2024, the rally will come to an end at INS Adyar in Chennai, where Rear Admiral Ravi Kumar Dhingra, Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area, will receive it. The purpose of the demonstration is to inspire pride in the Indian Navy and raise awareness of its contributions to national security. In order to promote Navy’s ideals and accomplishments, participants will tour educational institutions, historical landmarks, and schools.
The Himalayan Odyssey, which traverses more than 3000 kilometres of difficult terrain, is one of the epic bike rallies that Royal Enfield has a history of planning. To honour the Indian Navy’s contribution to Operation Trident during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, Navy Day is observed annually on December 4th in India. Four Pakistani ships, including PNS Khaibar, were sunk in this action, which demonstrated the Indian Navy’s valour and strength.
Additionally, the day honours the martyrs who died in the conflict. On this day, the Indian Navy is working to increase outreach, raise awareness of the marine industry, and emphasise the Navy’s role in national security. Operational demonstrations, band concerts, wreath-laying ceremonies, visits to schools and colleges, and other activities are held nationwide to commemorate Navy Day. In order to provide visitors with an overview of the Navy’s equipment and capabilities, the Navy also lets them tour its ships and submarines.
On December 4, 2024, the Indian Navy will celebrate Navy Day at Puri, Odisha. The Chief Guest for the occasion would be Droupadi Murmu, the Honourable President of India. With 40 aeroplanes and 24 battleships taking part in the Operational Demonstration, this year’s celebration is sure to be a spectacular occasion. Marine Commandos (MARCOS) will also conduct stealth operations throughout the event, demonstrating the Indian Navy’s preparedness and dedication to protecting the country. Additionally, the occasion will honour India’s rich maritime heritage.
