The Indian Navy set out on a very daring maritime expedition on the anniversary of the birth of the nation’s father, Mahatma Gandhi. In the Indian Naval Sailing Vessel “Tarini,” two young female officers are travelling across the world for the first time.
Flagging of “Navika Parikrama II” by the Chief of Naval Staff from the Indian Navy’s Ocean Sailing Node in Goa. Lieutenant Commanders Rooka K. and Dilna K. wave to the crowd as they embark on a singular journey to navigate the world’s stormy waters, traversing over twenty-three thousand nautical miles in just eight months. An important component of India’s military diplomacy, this mission is a symbol of women’s empowerment.
For three years, both female policemen trained extremely hard. They have already travelled 38 thousand nautical miles as part of their demanding training. This operation will rely solely on the sea winds and get no other assistance.
