MAHASAGAR: High Level Virtual Interaction, Third Edition

On November 5, the Indian Navy held the third edition of the high-level virtual interaction MAHASAGAR, in which Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi engaged with Senior Leadership and Heads of Navies/Maritime Agencies from the littorals of the Indian Ocean Region, including Bangladesh, Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania.

The theme of the interaction, “Training Cooperation to Mitigate Common Maritime Security Challenges in IOR,” focusses on the current and essential requirements for Training Corporation in order to mitigate common maritime difficulties in the Indian Ocean Region.

The Indian Navy’s premier virtual platform for high-level communication between maritime heads for active security and growth for everyone in the region is called MAHASAGAR, which translates to “vast ocean” in Hindi.

Since its launch in 2023, the biannual program, which was initiated by the Indian Navy, has gained widespread support from the participating countries.

In the present edition, the leadership openly discussed the importance of high-quality training and chances for IOR littorals to collaborate on training in order to build the necessary skills and capabilities to address common maritime security challenges in the IOR.
