INS TUSHIL ARRIVES AT DAKAR, SENEGAL

As part of the current operational deployment, the Indian Navy’s newest stealth frigate, INS Tushil, landed in Port of Dakar, Senegal, on January 3, 25. This visit will improve communication between the two nations’ fleets and strengthen already-existing connections with Senegal.

During the port call, INS Tushil, under the command of Captain Peter Varghese, will participate in a number of social and military activities. Interactions with top Senegalese military and government representatives will be part of this, as will a demonstration of the state-of-the-art indigenous weapons, sensors, and technology installed on board. Along with conducting training and demonstrations, the ship will facilitate communication between subject matter experts from the two fleets to identify opportunities for mutual benefit. Additionally scheduled for Senegalese aficionados is an energizing yoga session.

The ship will also arrange social events to highlight Indian culture. After construction is finished, the ship will take part in a joint patrol with the Senegalese Navy off the coast of West Africa and a Passage Exercise (PASSEX). The goal of the exercise is to improve interoperability and regional security while advancing maritime cooperation between the two fleets.

The visit is yet another powerful indication of how much India values its relationship with Senegal and its efforts to deepen the two countries’ expanding defense cooperation and cordial relationships. Additionally, it will provide the two navies a chance to share knowledge and look into new areas of collaboration.
