India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, introduced DISC 12 and ADITI 2.0 challenges to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and self-reliance in the military. The government is enticing young people with attractive initiatives to help innovate India’s defence industry.
Nineteen tasks covering AI, quantum technology, military communication, anti-drone systems, and adaptive camouflage are included in the second edition of ADITI, or Accelerating towards Atmanirbharta in Defence.
While DISC 12 introduces the Medical Innovations & Research Advancement project and poses 41 challenges in the realms of UAVs, AI, networking, and communication. This time, the minister of defence emphasised the importance of the private sector given the shifting geopolitical landscape.
The defence minister urged the next generation of thinkers to stay ahead of the curve in terms of global warfare technologies, citing the conflicts in the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine. In order to meet the Armed Forces’ evolving needs, the Defence Minister urged the private sector to transition from replicating to innovating technology. Report by Vishal Baristo for DD India
