The 8th edition of India Kazakhstan Joint Exercise KAZIND is presently underway at Surya Foreign Training Node, Auli, Uttarakhand. The Kazind joint military exercise between India and Kazakhstan is based on theme to conduct Joint Sub Conventional Operations under Chapter VII of United Nations Mandate.
The objective of the Exercise, which began on September 30, 2024, is to improve interoperability between Indian and Kazakhstani forces, with a focus on Counter Terrorism Operations. The 120-person Indian contingent is mainly composed of a Battalion from the Indian Air Force and Kumaon Regiment, as well as personnel from supporting Arms and Services.
Thus far, the contingents have engaged in rock climbing, yoga, special heliborne operations, and Army Martial Arts Routine. The yoga practice brought together soldiers from both contingents, demonstrating the importance of yoga for soldiers’ mental and physical health as well as their spiritual balance and ability to withstand adversity. Additionally, Indian soldiers showed off their hand-to-hand combat prowess in an Army Martial Arts routine to the Kazakhstan contingent.
Soldiers receiving rock craft training were able to operate in rough, hilly terrain and improve their ability to manoeuvre through challenging situations when conducting counterterrorism operations. Special Heliborne actions demonstrated the quick deployment strategies, in which troops are dropped by helicopter into combat zones to carry out immediate actions.
