Srinagar welcomed the arrival of the Indian Air Force-Uttarakhand War Memorial (UWM) historic vehicle rally. Air Commodore Prabhat Malik, the station commander of Srinagar Air Base, and Tarun Vijay, the chairman of the Uttarakhand War Memorial, greeted the rally participants. Renowned adventurist Wing Commander Vijay Prakash Bhatt is leading the gathering.
Beginning in the Siachen Air Base in Thoise and travelling 7,000 kilometres, this unprecedented rally will pass through Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, and end in Delhi for a spectacular finale in mid-November.
Senior Air Force soldiers are piloting fifteen 4×4 Jimmys as they travel India’s roadways. Two female army officers, who are well-known climbers with one having reached the summit of Mount Everest, are also taking part. Along with thousands of other Ladakhi youngsters, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brigadier (Retd) B.D. Mishra gave them a hearty send-off in Leh. Top dignitaries are expected to attend a ceremonial send-off that is akin to this one in Srinagar.
The rally’s objectives are to encourage young people to enlist in the Indian Air Force, to bring attention to the service’s outstanding accomplishments, to foster a love and respect for the military, and to promote the ideals of leading a soldier’s life as a proud Indian fighter.
Tarun Vijay stated that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is a vital component of India’s defence policy. It has a long history of valour and ingenuity and has been essential in many battles, including those that occurred in 1965, 1971, 1999, and Balakot Airstrikes, among others. He continued, “The team will interact with the youth throughout the rally and inspire them to enlist in the military.”
When asked about the true goal of the IAF UWM automobile parade, Tarun Vijay stated that it is to inspire young people to serve their country by educating them about the valorous acts of the air warriors in various wars and rescue missions, as well as the great history of the IAF.
