Four columns of javans are mobilised by the Indian Army to be ready for rescue missions

MADRAS ENGINEERS, BENGALURU SENDS A COLUMN TO CHENNAI FOR PUDUCHERRY DEPLOYMENT WHEN NEEDED

Four columns of Indian Army soldiers are ready to provide rescue and relief efforts whenever necessary. Another column of 66 members from the Madras Engineers Group, Bengaluru, arrived in Chennai early this morning with relief supplies for deployment in Puducherry as needed, while two columns from the Indian Army’s Dakshin Bharat Area have been conducting rescue missions in flood-affected areas of Puducherry since the first of this month.

In the meantime, the two columns from the Army’s Dakshin Bharat Area that are currently on the ground have been used for rescue operations for the third day today following a joint on-ground reconnaissance conducted this morning by the civil administration, Indian Army column commanders, and NDRF representatives.

Under the command of Maj. Ajay Kumar Sangwan, the first column of 61 Army soldiers has relocated to Kambalikaran Kuppam in Embalam. Under Maj Solar Mani Pradhan, the second column has relocated to Karaiyamputhur, near Bahour, where stranded individuals are being rescued. In order to efficiently coordinate with the civil government and the Army forces keeping an eye on the rescue efforts, the Commanding Officer of the Indian Army’s 16-Madras Corps is in Puducherry.

Over 1000 stranded people were safely evacuated from the impacted localities of Krishna Nagar, Kuber Nagar, Jiva Nagar, and NR Nagar in Puducherry by Indian Army forces during the first two days of the operations.
