At the Foreign Training Node in Aundh, Pune, the third iteration of the India-Australia joint military exercise, known as AUSTRAHIND 2024, came to an end today. Major General David Thomae, Commander, 2nd Australian Division, and Major General KTG Krishnan, General Officer Commanding, 36 RAPID, attended the Closing Ceremony. In their speeches to the contingents, the two dignitaries praised their outstanding work in training together, sharing best practices, and advancing India-Australia military cooperation.

Beginning on November 8, 2024, the exercise included a rigorous two-week training program designed to improve collaboration and interoperability between the two countries’ armed forces.

Indian and Australian troops conducted coordinated simulated operations against rebel forces in a semi-urban setting as the validation exercise, which took place from November 19 to 20, 2024, came to a close. A Temporary Operating Base, an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance grid, heliborne operations, a raid, isolating a hostile town, and a hostage rescue operation were among the major missions.

With its emphasis on trust, confidence, and the sharing of best practices, AUSTRAHIND 2024 represented a major turning point in the development of India-Australia military ties. This cooperative exercise demonstrates both countries’ dedication to world peace and stability and their preparedness to handle complex peacekeeping operations difficulties.
