The Second Army Commanders’ Conference of 2024 is scheduled to take place in a hybrid format, with the first phase taking place in a forward location in Gangtok on October 10–11. In the second phase, on October 28 and 29, in Delhi, the Indian Army’s high hierarchy would gather. The senior leadership in Gangtok will hear a keynote speech from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who will also be informed on the Army’s reaction to the security arena and the latest security concerns.

Given the multitude of regional security issues that the nation faces, the Army Commanders’ Conference, which is set to begin in Sikkim tomorrow, is of great importance. The Senior Commanders’ meeting being held at a forward location highlights the Indian Army’s attention to ground realities. Senior Commanders will examine current operational preparedness, discuss important strategies, and lay out future directives in this forum.

The conference’s initial part will include talks centred on important national security concerns and tactical elements meant to hone the Indian Army’s warfighting skills. Developing low-cost technologies and alternative strategies to counter the rapidly evolving nature of warfare will be among the major issues discussed during the two-day session, along with the growing significance of a multi-pronged national security strategy that integrates integration of Civil Military Fusion & the Diplomatic, Information, Military, and Economic (DIME) pillars to counter contemporary threats.

In keeping with the Indian Army’s objective of technological absorption, the senior leadership will discuss a range of topics, such as incorporating technology into PME and investigating the potential for hiring subject matter experts in specialised fields. Other topics being discussed will centre on improving the Field Army’s overall organisational health and streamlining its procedures to make them more adaptable and responsive.

The conference’s second part will include a talk about how the geopolitical environment is changing, brainstorming sessions on operational issues, and meetings of different Boards of Governors to discuss welfare programs and financial security plans for active duty personnel, veterans, and their families. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan; the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi; and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, will also address the senior leadership of the Army.

The senior leadership of the Indian Army is gathered here to reaffirm the Army’s unwavering commitment to readiness, agility, and precision in defence in order to maintain the Army’s progressive, forward-thinking, adaptable, and future-ready status.
