33rd INTER UNIVERSITY SOUTH ZONE YOUTH FESTIVAL 2017 Held at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science

Kalai Koodam – The 33rd Inter University South Zone Youth Festival was held at the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science in association with Association of Indian Universities. Nearly 900 participants from 31 Universities across South India participated in the 5 day long cultural event. This cultural event was held in keeping with the objectives of the All India Universities Cultural fest to promote National Integration and Communal Harmony among the student community.
Spread across a period of five days, the cultural festival included interesting competitions and performances like, One act play, Light vocal solo-Indian/Hindustani/Carnatic, Quiz, Elocution, Mimicry, On the spot painting, Collage, Cartoon , Music & Dance ( Classical/Western, Folk), Folk Orchestra, Literary Events (Quiz, Elocution, Debate, Theatre), Poster Making, Clay Modelling, Photography and Installation.
As part of this inter university cultural festival, the scenario in the campus transcended from its modern outlook to its vintage era. The atmosphere was reverberating with the clans of Drums, Trumpets, Veena, Nadaswaram, Mridangam etc emanating a blend of Hindustani and Carnatic music at its best, and it also extended to powerful portrayals of themes related through mime, skit, debate and one act plays that reflected the theme of the social evils, preservation of nature, Indian mythology and also the pros and cons of technology.
Some of the participants were from University of Kerala, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, CUSAT, University Of Mysore, Vignan’s Foundations For Science & Technology, University of Kerala, Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya, Sree Sankaracharya University Of Sanskrit, Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Alagappa University, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Mahatma Gandhi University, University Of Calicut, Kannur University, Krishna University, Gulbarga University, Karnataka University Dharwad, Bangalore University etc.
The overall champions of the 33rd Inter University South Zone Youth Festival was University of Kerala and the Runners Up were from Mahatma Gandhi University.
