Shiv Nadar University Chennai’s EduQuest: Going Global!

Shiv Nadar University Chennai, renowned for its holistic and innovative approach to education, successfully hosted the Third Edition of EduQuest (https://www.snuchennai.edu.in/eduquest/), a nationwide inter school project and quiz competition for school students of grades 9-12. Held on 21 January 2025, at the university’s state-of-the-art campus, the event featured a diverse array of activities.
These included a South India-level quiz competition QuBizProjectX – a showcase of innovative STEM projects, a campus visit followed by career guidance sessions. The fest served as a vibrant celebration of intellect, innovation, and exploration, providing students with a glimpse into university life and opportunities to showcase their talents and creativity.
QuBiz: The Thrilling South India-Level Quiz conducted across 15 major cities in South India
The highly anticipated QuBiz, part of EduQuest, brought together the brightest minds from across South India in a competitive yet engaging atmosphere. Zonal rounds were successfully conducted in major cities, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Ooty, Vellore, Bengaluru, Trichy, Salem, Madurai, Guntur, Trivandrum, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Tanjore, Nagercoil, and Puducherry, culminating in the Grand Finale hosted at Shiv Nadar University Chennai.
The winners of the Chennai Zonals were Heril Goti and Adithyan D. V. from Chinmaya International Residential School, Coimbatore, who secured first place with a cash prize of ₹10,000. The second place was awarded to Prateek and Antonita from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, KK Nagar, Chennai, who received ₹6,000, followed by Darshan and Aravindaksha from Vidya Mandir, Chennai, who won ₹3,000.
The QuBiz Grand Finale championship title was secured by R. Bala Shanmugam and Charan Sriram R. of Pushpalata Vidya Mandir, Tirunelveli, who were awarded a cash prize of ₹25,000. The second-place winners, Prateek and Antonita from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, KK Nagar, Chennai, received ₹15,000, while Shamindiran and Balaprasath from Petite Seminare, Puducherry, clinched third place with a cash prize of ₹5,000.
The Grand Finale of QuBiz was concluded with an awards ceremony. The certificates & cash prizes were awarded by Prof. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya, the Honourable Vice Chancellor of SNU Chennai. Alongside present were Dr. T. Nagarajan, Professor & Associate Dean, School of Engineering, Dr. Venugopal, Professor of Maths & Student Activities Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Giftson, EduQuest Chair & Manager – Marketing & Outreach and Mr. Neerubavi Swamy, Manager – Program Office, Education, Shiv Nadar Foundation, Mr. M. Rangarajan Ravi- Quiz Master & CEO Mind Games and Mr. Aravind -Program director of Mind Games.
In addition to the cash awards, all finalists were honoured with scholarships worth ₹7.2 lakhs (subject to selection and eligibility in Shiv Nadar University Chennai Entrance and Boards) reaffirming Shiv Nadar University Chennai’s commitment to fostering and empowering young talent.
ProjectX, the flagship STEM competition of EduQuest, achieved an international scope this year, attracting over 200 teams from India and abroad. Students from Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry, and Karnataka took part in the contest. Innovative minds from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Bangladesh submitted project proposals addressing the theme Innovations for a Sustainable Future, focusing on ideas that could positively impact society.
After a rigorous evaluation process, over 100 exceptional projects were selected to advance to the final showcase at the Shiv Nadar University Chennai campus.
The Grand Finale culminated in an awards ceremony during which the prizes were ceremoniously presented by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharya. Alongside were Dr. T. Nagarajan, Professor & Associate Dean of the School of Engineering; Dr. Venugopal, Professor of Maths & Student Activities Coordinator; Mr. Samuel Giftson, EduQuest – Chair & Manager of Marketing and Outreach, and Mr. Neerubavi Swamy, Manager – Program Office, Education, Shiv Nadar Foundation.
For the Project Competition, the first prize of ₹25,000, along with Scholarships worth ₹3.2 Lakhs (subject to selection and eligibility in Shiv Nadar University Chennai Entrance and Boards), was awarded to the UCPS Techno Team from Union Christian Public School, Chennai, represented by B. Jagadeeshwar and K. Jenish. The second prize of ₹10,000 was won by the Capsule Makers from Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School, Puducherry, represented by Nithesh Raaja and Yogesh V. The third prize of ₹5,000 was awarded to a team from Shiv Nadar School, Noida, represented by Puroo Duggal and Adwitya Ghosh.
Special mentions were given to students from National Public School, Gopalapuram, Chennai: Vishal Balasubramanian and Lakshmi Thanikaivel; Chinmaya International Residential School, Coimbatore: Jayam Manglam Modi and Gatik Chwachharia; Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School, Puducherry: Nithesh Raaja V V and Yogesh V, Saatvik K; Union Christian Public School, Chennai: Theophilus Johan Ebenezer, H. Stanley Jeyakar; Mayo College, Ajmer: Kartikeya Parashar and Aditya Jain; Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, Chennai: Krish Praneeth.G, K.Vishnu Kumar, P.V Shakkthi and S Krishna Pradyun; and Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, Nungambakkam, Chennai: Shriya K and Harshini Rajagopal, for their exemplary performance, innovation, and brilliance.
The projects reflected the ingenuity and creative potential of these young minds, reaffirming the university’s commitment to fostering innovation.
The Third Edition of EduQuest, comprising the exhilarating QuBiz and the innovative ProjectX, proved to be a resounding success, bringing together some of the brightest young minds from across India and beyond. The event highlighted the spirit of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, fostering a platform for students to engage in meaningful competition and exploration. With participants showcasing exceptional talent and innovation in both STEM and general knowledge, EduQuest underscored the importance of nurturing the leaders and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
