To provide cutting-edge treatments for a variety of ailments, such as depression, anxiety, OCD, schizophrenia, headaches, nerve pain, and trigeminal neuralgia, among others, the Department of Psychiatry at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRMCH&RC) has formally opened the Centre of Excellence for Neuromodulation.
In the presence of distinguished dignitaries such as Pro Vice Chancellor (Medical), Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Additional Registrar (MHS), Dr. T. Mythili, Medical Superintendent, Dr. R. Dr. R. Arul Saravanan gave insightful explanations of the Center’s cutting-edge Neurosoft Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) machine during the inauguration. According to him, neuromodulation is a new treatment strategy that aims to change nerve activity by precisely delivering stimuli to particular neurological locations, particularly the brain. He went on to discuss TMS, a non-invasive kind of brain stimulation that may be used to treat a number of neurological and psychiatric conditions. It works by using electromagnetic induction to create electric currents in particular brain regions.
Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar highlighted SRM Medical College Hospital’s commitment to utilising cutting-edge technologies to deliver top-notch care. Patients with SRM and those recommended by other medical specialists are welcome to visit the Centre of Excellence for Neuromodulation. It is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For your reference, kindly refer to the press release and related images attached.
