Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh inspected the facilities at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) on Sunday during his visit to the Taramani campus in Chennai. He claimed in his speech that while India lacked fashion forecasting equipment in the past and had to rely on other nations, the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership and NIFT’s commitment have allowed us to have our own fashion forecasting equipment now. This is undoubtedly a proud step for independent India in the fashion industry.

“The textile market will be worth about $350 billion by 2030,” he added. We are addressing everyone for this, from industrialists to farmers. The textile sector will undoubtedly easily reach this goal in the upcoming five to six years. The textile industry currently employs over 4.6 crore people, and by 2030, that number is expected to rise to 6 crore.

“We need to pay attention to the challenges within the country in addition to exports,” he stated in response to a question concerning textile exports. Approximately 2 crore children are born in our nation each year. Our nation’s population grows annually by the same amount as Australia’s overall population. Providing clothing to all of the nation’s citizens is our top goal. We are working diligently on this problem despite the fact that it is a significant one.

“After coming here, I saw that along with the second year studies, the children are also trying to meet their expenses,” he remarked, complimenting the NIFT students for earning money in addition to their knowledge. The students’ efforts are admirable and remarkable, and they should undoubtedly be supported. He requested that the application of artificial intelligence (AI) be emphasised throughout this, in addition to technical expertise. In addition, he requested that short-term certificate courses be added to the degree program in order to deliver employment-oriented education more quickly.
