On Thursday, IIT Madras’ Hindi Mitra Mandal (HMM) hosted a Deepawali celebration. This festival, which was held at the institute’s Open Air Theatre, was magnificent and brimming with Indian togetherness and cultural diversity.
The event began with a traditional way with evening prayers,” stated Rishi Dhar Gandhi, the former president of Hum. Following this, our gifted students and committees gave an amazing cultural presentation.
‘Naitik’, a unique presentation by Dr. Satish Kumar Srivastava, a young poet and ghazal writer from the city, energised the crowd during this time. Even though Chennai is thousands of kilometres distant from home, we honestly felt the joy of home on this Diwali.
The effectiveness of the program was also greatly aided by Rangla Punjab, Aapan Vihar Mandal, Marathi Mitra Mandal, Hindi Mitra Mandal, Satish Mishra, and Atul Kumar Pandey, among others.
“Hindi Mitra Mandal has been working to promote Hindi and Indian culture in the institute for a number of years,” stated President Tanjot Kaur. The Deep Mahotsav this year was incredibly stunning as a result of our endeavour.
The audience was enthralled by the programs, which included everything from modern music to traditional dance. A distinctive illustration of Indian culture’s unity in variety was provided by the Bhojpuri to Punjabi dances performed at this time.
