MoD seals agreement with Cochin Shipyard for ₹1207 Cr

for Short Refit and Dry Docking of INS Vikramaditya

On November 30, 2024, the Ministry of Defence and M/s Cochin Shipyard Limited inked a contract for the INS Vikramaditya’s Short Refit and Dry Docking (SRDD), which will cost a total of Rs. 1207.5 Cr. In November 2013, the Indian Navy commissioned the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. INS Vikramaditya will join the Indian Navy’s active fleet with improved combat capability following the completion of the refit.

This project is a critical milestone in Cochin Shipyard Limited’s development as a Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) hub to assist India’s industrial ecosystem. Nearly 50 MSMEs are expected to participate in the initiative, which would provide jobs for over 3500 people.

The project will significantly advance the government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
