The intense rains that Chennai and many Tamil Nadu districts are having have caused low-lying areas to become flooded. Although the heavy rain warning is still in effect for the next 24 hours, officials are working nonstop to solve the problem.

With heavy rains predicted, the meteorological service has issued a heavy rain notice for Chennai and the surrounding areas. The state government has, out of caution, proclaimed tomorrow a holiday for public sector organisations, government buildings, and schools in the districts of Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Chennai, and Chengalpattu, with the exception of critical services.

Amidst the persistent downpours, MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, evaluated the state of the rain in the state capital. He examined and kept an eye on Chennai’s areas hit by the rain. In order to monitor the situation, Udhayanidhi Stalin, the deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu, also went to the Integrated Control and Command Centre in Chennai.

Due to low passenger numbers, Chennai Airport announced the cancellation of eight flights, comprising four departures and four arrivals. The impacted flights were leaving for Delhi, Muscat, Bengaluru, and the Andaman Islands. It is recommended that travellers enquire with their airlines for additional information and other possible travel options.
