More than 2,000 people attended the second “India in Bahrain Festival” at Dana Mall in Sanabis, which featured entertainment, artwork, and food to highlight India’s cultural richness. On February 21, the Indian Embassy, in partnership with Lulu Hypermarket Bahrain and Dana Mall, hosted the event.
The festival was opened by Indian Ambassador to Bahrain Vinod K. Jacob and included performances by 17 Indian community associations that showcased folk and classical traditions from different parts of India. Included in the occasion was an art exhibition called ‘India Through My Eyes,’ which showcased 42 paintings by 20 artists and was part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ Promotion of Cultural Ties with Diaspora (PCTD) initiative.
Visitors looked at booths selling real food and traditional handicrafts that were operated by more than 20 Indian community associations. Through a special consular services counter, the Embassy offered extra assistance.
The success of the festival highlights the Embassy’s continuous efforts to foster cultural interchange between the two countries and deepen ties between India and its expatriate community in Bahrain.
