Learning is a never – ending process: Bhishma Narain Singh

Human life till ends is a learning process and everyone is a student, said former Tamil Nadu Governor Bhishma Narain Singh. Speaking at the second annual convocation of VIT University in Chennai recently, he said that one can learn new things everyday and that’s why learning never ends. However, sharing his personal life incidents he said when first time he got a chance to use phone, he didn’t know how to use it. He said that his granddaughter taught him how to use a mobile phone. He urged everyone to be humble and have zeal to learn. He further said since his appointment, he always tried to learn local language of that place and he always loved Tamil as it’s a very ancient language.
Speaking on the occasion, N T Arunkumar, board director and strategic advisor (Tata group, FinTech & amp; Analytics start-up, Financial Services), said that his learning began after one finished his studies. Addressing students, he said that studies ends, but learning begins here. More than knowledge and skills, one needs to be ambitious. He also urged students to become entrepreneurs. He said that it’s easier to become entrepreneurs than employees.
VIT University Chancellor G Viswanathan said only five per cent of Indians were able to pursue higher education. Even 70 years after Independence government spend so much money on schemes like MANREGA but government should spend more in our education. He also said that the country is youngest population in word. Stating that it’s government duty to make a best plan to use the young mind for the betterment of our country, he added that good education system and government should spent much on education schemes than these so that it enhances our younger generation skill and knowledge to be a job creator not job seeker. It is important that we concentrate on education to protect and strengthen democracy he said. A total of 1,552 students graduated in B Tech, M Tech, MS, M Phil among 192 rank holders and 20 PhD students.
